A Holiday Message From Our President

Thanksgiving is behind us and the snow and cold signal the onset of the Christmas holiday season. It also signals the end of another successful year for STV Bavaria. Our Verein held our four annual functions which were well attended as we continue to perpetuate our Culture through these wonderful events. We traveled to Washington D.C. to compete and participate at the Gaufest in July. Twenty-five members traveled to Germany to celebrate a milestone anniversary with our friends from Grainet. Our Club membership is growing leaps and bounds, though not all of them are anywhere near adulthood. Congratulations to all our new members and especially to the parents of all our “younger” members.

Our happiness was tempered with the loss of some of our most beloved members this year. Among the many that passed, we lost three of our Ehrenmitglieder; Heinz Rock, Marie Spaan, and Helmut Hetzel. We will certainly miss these people as members, more-so as friends and family, but their legacies will always remain in our memories and by continuing the traditions that they helped foster.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their unselfish commitment of time, talent, and effort in all that we do. There is always a huge amount of work to be done for all our events, and we are, seemingly, always busy getting ready for whatever comes next. I want you to know that I’m extremely grateful to each, and every one of you for whatever part you may have played along the way. We can always count on you!

I’d also like to thank the Executive Board and Committee chairs and committees for all the extra behind the scenes work that they put in. These are some of the most intelligent, passionate, talented, driven people that anyone could ask for. They work tirelessly for the benefit of the Club.

We are extremely excited about the new year and what lies ahead for us! Bunter Nachmittag, Bratwurst Essen, Maifest, Gebietsfest, Delegates Meeting. That’s just the first half of the year!

In closing, I want to take the opportunity, on behalf of the Executive Board and myself to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope you get to spend quality time with family and friends and that you find joy and happiness, peace and love, during this most blessed season. Take a moment to appreciate all you have, remember those that have moved on and look forward to another great year and decade as we enter 2020!

Mit Trachtengruss,
Kenny Ott
